About this deal

With a collection capacity of 40L and a shredding ratio of 3:1, leaves are no task for this garden blow vac. It’s powerful and robust and comes with a one-year warranty, extended to two if registered on purchase. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. None are easy to insert but I struggled for an hour and could not get the final one in at the risk of breaking it. The Easi Wheel expensive option is essential, unless you have the muscles of the Govenor of California.

Designed for medium sized gardens, the Flymo Power Vac 2700V has a powerful motor of 2700W and a blow speed of 310km/h - making tidying your garden a breeze. The purpose of my purchase wasn’t to ‘blow’ but to suck up the dropped dropped petals from my Wysteria. So, if you are looking for essentially a garden vacuum to pick up and shred leaves efficiently, without fuss, and a blowing option when it is needed, this is a good choice. Please help - I am wondering why a well known garden vac manufacturer provides such flimsy collection bags that develop holes after very few uses, very very few. I had an original GardenVac which worked very well, - until it fell over and smashed the case beyond repair. This includes cleaning the machine, checking the power supply, and following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule. One other point though, I cannot believe how few shredder lines are supplied with the product or the exorbitant cost of the spares. There is a newer, Flymo model, the 3000w PowerVac, but it does not have the same sucking power as the GardenVac, 168 litres per second against 250 l/s. In operation the vac is a big improvement on the original model with more powerful suction and blowing. I have to say that the construction of the vacuum isn't as sturdy as my old one and I think it would be quite easy to crack the case, especially if this was accidently dropped.

Once properly attached, the vacuum works well and I particularly like the shredder blade which rotates at high speed, making light work of the contents. Inspect the motor and internal components: If the motor brushes are in good condition, you may need to inspect the motor and other internal components for damage or wear. When vacuuming, the angle of attack of the head to the target is critical, otherwise the loose leaf just stays there. The collection bag is the same design as the original but the original, which is a bit battered these days, feels a more substantial affair but we, or at least my heirs, can judge that more accurately around 2060 or so. The machine is also quite big and bulky in storage but the strap can be used to hang it up, which is helpful.

Useful in small to medium gardens with lots of leaves and a range of debris to collect for the compost heap. However the difficulty is fastening the bag to its frame - there are small pieces of plastic which need to be inserted into a narrow gap on the frame. I looked at the more modern versions of this leaf and garden blower and vac but decided to go for the 4 in one 270w version as it had served me so well for many years amd bacause the leaf shredding function is optionsl and not a built in permanent function. The Garden Vac 2700 is a powerful 4-in-1 electric garden vacuum that makes cleaning leaves form your garden quick and easy shredding leaves as they are collected. This makes gaps between the bag and the machine, through which leaves it has managed to pick up, escape. If your Flymo Garden Vac 2700 is not turning on, even after checking the power cord, changing the fuse, and ensuring that the line is in good shape, there may be a fault with the machine itself. It may be that they're all like this, but all in all I think the Flymo Garden Vac 2200w Turbo leaf blower is a no-no. Why they (Flymo) didn’t simply put a zip in the thing is beyond me - instead you have to unclip it from the top, hinge it down, remove the bag (which also exposes the little cutting blades) empty it, then reverse the process. In my view this is an excellent piece of kit - it does the job as a blower and a vac excellently but do not expect it to last for too long.
