About this deal

Celebrating the astounding creativity and originality of designer Alexander McQueen, who relentlessly questioned and confronted the requisites of fashion An authoritative and moving insight into the legacy of the British designer. A super-glossy and utterly gorgeous coffee table tome, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty is a must for any fashionista. The books cover shows a single, holographic image of McQueen's face that dissolves, at a tilt, into a sinister, molten metal skull. Rabinow, Sabine Rewald, Samantha Rippner, Gary Tinterow, Lucy Belloli, Shawn Digney-Peer, Isabelle Duvernois, Rachel Mustalish, Kendra Roth, and Christel Hollevoet-Force. It features his most iconic and radical designs, revealing how McQueen adapted and combined the fundamentals of Savile Row tailoring, the specialized techniques of haute couture, and technological innovation to achieve his distinctive aesthetic.

It's a poignant trick, a reminder that McQueen's personal demons tempered his aesthetic as much as his anti-establishment politics and wild imagination . McQueen drew notice with his fashions that made femininity collide with masculinity, gowns and dresses that created a continuing dichotomy between life and death, lightness and darkness, predator and prey, man and machine.I was delighted to find that the library had a borrowable copy of this sumptuous hardback volume, with its eerie cover hologram. The brilliance of the four-time British Designer of the Year Award-winner shines brightly in this abundantly illustrated assessment of his entire career. Found the text a little hard to read being such huge pages and such tiny print I kept losing my place (old eyes).

Lamentablemente, como muchos genios se fue antes de tiempo pero dejó uno de los legados más impresionantes detrás de él.this gold mine book available in hardcover with lenticular image is a must-have addition to your library and a way of keeping the memory and work of Alexander McQueen alive. His uses of fabric and elements not usually considered wearable resulted in very bizarre and at the same time hauntingly beautiful creations that, placed on mannequins, could be considered sculptures. Goodreads reminded me of it by recommending the exhibition catalogue, perhaps the third good quality recommendation the algorithm has given me in nearly ten years. The book itself is a beautiful object, printed in Italy, with a now-familiar hologram of McQueen's face juxtaposed with a skull. Any book that inspires me to explore my own creativity, leads me to topics that I would like to know more about and that I am still thinking about after reading the last page, gets a five star rating.
