Good to see an updated version of “Just off the motorway”- any easily found alternative to the unrestful hurly-burly of most motorway service areas welcome! A numismatist, after learning business in London established himself as a trader at Smyrna, where he lived from 1818 until his death. He devoted much of his attention to the discovery of inedited Greek coins, in which he was remarkably successful. The results of his discoveries were given in papers contributed to the Revue Numismatique, the Numismatic Chronicle, and various German numismatic periodicals. In 1836 he published at Paris a ‘Notice sur quelques médailles grecques des rois de Chypre’. His articles entitled ‘Coins in Andeda in Pisidia’ and ‘On the coins reading OKOKLIEÕN’ were published in 1839 and 1841 respectively in the Numismatic Chronicle. Borell was an associate member of the Numismatic Society of London from 28 November 1839 until his death at the age of fifty-six, at Smyrna on 2 October 1851. His collection of coins, antiquities, and gems was sold by Sotheby and Wilkinson of London in 1851 and his numismatic library was sold at Sothebys on 28 February 1853. Something has been bugging me. We saw last week that the Fugitive Doctor and Karnavista were two of the Division operatives who took part in the battle of Atropos. But who were Yaz and Vinder there to represent? They surely weren’t at the events themselves. Who were the other two people on the Ruth Doctor’s team? Deeper into the vortex At its height, members of the network covered an employee population of 1.5 million. During this period, the BSA joined with organisations focused upon disability at work, encouraging the formation of networks around stammering and employment. Between 2013 and 2018, the BSA ran workshops helping employers understand the needs and value of employing people who stammer, as well as workshops and training for people who stammer who wished to find work and/or progress in their career. In 2018, the ESN ran a groundbreaking mentoring pilot to help young people who stammered at work. Achievements

From the 1990s the BSA focused on raising awareness about the importance of early intervention for young children who stammer, led by Cherry Hughes, targeting primary healthcare workers. Following on from the success of this project, funding was secured in 1999 for the Parental Awareness Campaign, giving parents the clear message that early intervention is the most effective way to manage stammering in young children. In the 58 years since the first motorway service area opened at Watford Gap on the M1, Britain has lagged behind other countries when it comes to rest stops for long-distance motorists. The inspiration for setting up the ESN was the knowledge that people who stammer are twice as likely to be unemployed, more so if their stammer is severe. Many employers hold negative attitudes towards people who stammer which can impact on the likelihood of successful recruitment or promotion. A pilot mentoring programme. Running for six months, the pilot provided one-to-one mentorship for young people who stammer. I yelled out “She said the thing!” when Whittaker said “Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow”, regarded as Jon Pertwee’s definitive third Doctor catchphrase, even though he only actually said it twice. Here’s a supercut video of every time the Doctor has reversed a technobabble thingamajig since 1963.

The Good Shopping Guide each year reveals the good, the bad, and the ugly of the world’s companies and brands, with a view to supporting the growth of social responsibility and ethical business as well as a more sustainable, just society. What a fabulous idea, it would transform my regular 3 hour motorway trips to visit elderly parents who live inconveniently far from the railway! My ride is a trusty, rusty Dawes Mean Street, which has just passed its 25th birthday. I need a reliable bell that rings lustily every time, even when I have gloves on. Yes please. The bell on my Gazelle Impala was damaged when I came off last year — one of these would look and sound wonderful as a replacement.

This book has already been done. Called ‘ just off the motorway ‘. Produced in the late 70’s. Great book. This looks just like a copy. Shame. Beating household-name insurance companies such as John Lewis and the Co-op, we earned an ethical company index score of 89 – earning us joint-first place with Naturesave. I have just realised that thus is the book i have always wanted, or at least since my first ever visit to a UK service station. This would be truly lovely on my Boardman Fi Hybrid commuting to work every day. Should help me warn people engrossed in their phones not to step out!

When Gerald asked who was in charge, and Yaz said it was a very flat team structure, she wasn’t just echoing the Doctor’s words, but also Graham, who in 2018’s The Witchfinders dealt with King James refusing to accept a woman could be in charge by saying “It’s a very flat team structure. We all have our area of expertise.” It would be fantastic to support some alternative hostelries without engaging in the miles long goose chases that I normally end up getting lost on Sounds fantastic. Any guide that helps get away from those places is definitely worth a look. I suppose we are often in a hurry but maybe the book points to places that are almost as convenient. My trusty steed is a pale blue Claud(ette – it is a ladies’ frame) Butler. Route? Manchester’s newly-built cycle path along the Oxford Rd/Wilmslow Road corridor. A nightmare pedalling home through the Curry Mile – the cycle path is so handy for other travellers such as skateboarders, mobility scooter users, folk with pushchairs, shopping, I-pods and all in need of a gentle reminder that two wheels are good….. One of these on my road-going mobility scooter would have to be just fantastic. My ‘horn’ is so ineffective but this sounds as if it should sound great and it looks ultra-smart. Love to have one.A bell stylish enough to fit to a good bike and made from the right metal to go with my Omega Cyclone Building on the success of the Employers Stammering Network, we are now planning the next five years in relation to stammering and work. We will be having a series of meetings to formulate our plans so watch this space of further information. I love your thoughtful and sensible but slightly rebellious stance on all things cycling. Please keep it up. I will be grateful for any readers out there who can provide more information on my continuing quest: andrew.malleson[at]gmail.com Sources GM, 2nd ser., 39 (1853), 324 - ‘Proceedings of the Numismatic Society for 24 June, 1852’, ‘Numismatic Chronicle, 14 (1851-2)) [death notice] - Boase, Mod.
