About this deal

Rounders England games set out a pitch with bases that are 12 metres (13 yards) apart. Another section explains England Rounders pitch markings with specific measurements and dimensions. As you can see there are only a few simple rules in the equipment needed for Rounders regulations. Thus, there is little to go wrong when you use a simple set of Rounders bats and balls. Rounders regulation pitch dimensions vary in size. The playing area and dimensions in Rounders depend on whether you are playing professional Rounders at international level or for recreation. A player can be caught out by someone catching the ball straight after they have hit it, if the post they are running to is touched with the ball or if they are touched by a fielder with the ball during their turn. As a general rule, players do not have to wear any special kit to play the game as a recreational activity. So, wearing some comfortable clothing and a decent pair of training shoes should be all you need to join in.

A batter is out if a fielder catches the ball after it has been hit and before it touches the ground, a fielder touches the post of the base halfway up (or higher) with the ball while the batter is running to it, the batter deliberately drops or throws the bat, or another batter runs to the same base or overtakes a batter, in which case both batters are out. To play Walking Rounders, some rules need to be adapted to ensure that the game is played appropriately. If you’re playing a game competitively, these rules become important. Rounders England has recommended the adaptions below. If you’re not playing a competitive game it’s really important to deliver a fun and flexible session, therefore, how closely you adhere to the rule adaptions is dependant on your group. For example, you may decide to make the pitch smaller, and play with a soft ball. All equipment in Rounders should be manufactured for player safety and for the general purpose of the game. For teams wishing to compete, having the right equipment is essential for both training and matches - here at Eveque, we have everything you need including rounders posts and bases, individual rounders bases, metal rounders posts and single rounders bases.

The Running Track

The first three posts start a diamond formation. You should then locate the fourth on the baseline running straight down from the third. As a rule, the best modern Rounders bats are usually made from wood or plastic. A metal Rounders bat is usually made of aluminium which means it is not too heavy to handle for most batters.

Note: you can run on a no ball but only to 1st post and cannot get caught out (scoring remains the same). The truncheon shaped Rounder bat should have a secure grip. Any binding should be appropriate for safe gripping. Now that your class has got to grips with the basics and the responsibilities of each position in rounders, consider all the different tactics and techniques that can be used to win! Scoring: 1 point for reaching each post on your live bat, so – 1 point for reaching 1st, 2 points for reaching 2nd, 3 points for reaching 3rd and 4 points for reaching 4th. To score one full point, the batter must hit the ball and run around the field to reach the 4th post before the bowler bowls the next ball. Each batter is entitled to three good balls. A good ball is one that travels the whole way across home base and between the batters knee and shoulder. A batter can try to hit any good balls that are pitched but need not run once hitting the ball or the first two good balls. The exact dimensions are unimportant for a leisurely park game. But, the codified rounders rules and regulations have specified measurements. They also govern and shape for the playing area. Each batter faces one delivery at a time. They should try and get to the first post before they are given out. The first nationally formalised rules were drawn up by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland in 1884. The game is still regulated in Ireland by the GAA, through the GAA Rounders National Council ( Irish: Comhairle Cluiche Corr na hÉireann). In Great Britain it is regulated by Rounders England, which was formed in 1943. While the two associations are distinct, they share similar elements of game play and culture. Competitions are held between teams from both traditions.

Note: The equipment section lists Rounders bat dimensions along with the size and weight of the balls.

Rounders is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams. Rounders is a striking and fielding team game that involves hitting a small, hard, leather-cased ball with a wooden, plastic, or metal bat that has a rounded end. The players score by running around the four bases on the field. [2] [3] Both throwing and catching require strong hand-eye coordination. If you think your class could benefit from some throwing and catching practice, take a look at these ball games. Mike. "Rounders". West Midlands Sports Development.
