About this deal

Despite the name, these beers aren’t hitting shelves in October — Munich’s Oktoberfest is in September, after all. The beers start to hit shelves in August in the United States, in time for when grocery stores rearrange seasonal display sections from summer to fall offerings, explains Sierra Nevada’s vice president of marketing Lesley Albright. By the end of October, they’ll be gone, so get them while you can. Here are a few more of our favorites:

In principle, no. Entry into the beer tents is free. A quarter of the places in the big tents are not reservable at all. At the weekend and on the public holiday half the seats cannot be reserved until 3 pm, after that 35% are not reservable. The Käfer Wiesn-Schänke and Kuffler’s Weinzelt (wine tent) are excluded from this rule – and the small tents . Reservations can only be made for the interior of the tents, not for the beer gardens. Where can I reserve a table in a tent?

Created in 1872, Spaten Oktoberfest beer is the world’s first Oktoberfest beer. Brewed for the greatest folk festival in the world. Medium-bodied with an impeccable taste, due to the perfect balance of hops and roasted malt flavour. Spaten Oktoberfest has a rich, textured palate with an underlying sweetness true to tradition. Slow-roasted or braised pork dishes, such as pulled pork or pork belly, which create a satisfying harmony with the beer’s sweetness. Known here in America for roasty, malty notes, Oktoberfests, Märzens, and Festbiers are perfect pints when the weather turns cold. Whether you’re camping out with a classic Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier from the original Munich brewery or enjoying a contemporary Hopewell Brewing Oktoberfest , we’ve found the best beers to ring in the Oktoberfest season. Spaten Oktoberfest pours a yellow colour and has a decent, long-lasting white head. The aroma highlights the malts in the beer, with toasted grains, as well as hops, also lurking. The flavour of the Marzen beverage is sweet with a bitter taste and a few mild spice notes, followed by a hoppy finish. To be served in traditional Stein glass with a hearty dish but just as perfect on its own. An authentic tasting Oktoberfest beer that oozes history as well as quality.

As a result, the finished beer has a soft caress of French oak that makes this one of the most approachable, balanced Märzens on the market.Behringer, Wolfgang: Die Spaten-Brauerei 1397-1997. Die Geschichte eines Münchner Unternehmens vom Mittelalter bis zur Gegenwart. München: Piper 1997. ISBN 3-492-03600-7. Their German hefe called Promised Marvels made our list of The 20 Best Beers to Drink in Fall 2021, but it’s their own 2023 Oktoberfest called Walk the Line that makes the cut here. Throughout its history, Spaten Brewery has maintained its commitment to brewing high-quality German beers that embody the essence of Bavarian beer-making tradition. As you continue to explore the fascinating world of beer, Spaten München remains a key player with its iconic products and storied past. Spaten Beer Types and Styles When tasting any import I try not judge too harshly. I mean they’ve come a long way, probably under none-too-kind traveling circumstances. That being said… the green bottle is an easy fix. Come on guys. I’m not sure why many European breweries continue to use green bottles. Tradition, I suppose… It’s become part of the signature, as has, in some cases the skunkiness. That’s right I’m looking at you Heineken. Peerless in its pursuit of brewing excellence, in 1841, just 1 year before the introduction of the pilsner in Pilsen, Bohemia, Spaten introduced the first amber-colored lager in Continental Europe, the Märzen. It reached the Bavarian market roughly at the same time as another amber lager, the Vienna lager of the Dreher Brewery, first graced the taps of the Austrian capital. In 1872, the Franziskaner-Leist Brewery, although not (yet) part of Spaten, but owned by Joseph Sedlmayr, brother of Gabriel the Younger, came out with a special Oktoberfest beer oddly named a “Märzen-Bier” brewed “the Vienna way.” The current Spaten Oktoberfest beer is still brewed largely according to that 1872 Franziskaner-Leist recipe. A year later, in 1873, Spaten commissioned the first ever continually operational refrigeration system, designed by Carl von Linde. About 2 decades later, in 1894, it became the first Bavarian brewery to brew a light-hued lager, Spaten Münchner Hell, using a variation of the 1842 Pilsner brewing method. See pilsner and linde, carl von.
