Disclaimer: I received the ear tips from SpinFits at no charge in exchange for an honest review of my experience with them. My thoughts and opinion here are all my own. The patented aspect of the SpinFit ear tips is the concave 3D axis towards the tip. This allows the ear tip to flex and bend as it pushes into your ear canal. Image credit: SpinFit The CP145 seem to tame bass a tiny bit to give a small boost to the upper midrange and to treble; mind you, we’re talking about a difference that’s not major and is in fact relatively minute. In other words, you won’t be able to make a warm IEM a neutral one, but you will notice a smaller difference compared to other tips. Overall my sensation is that the CP145 deliver a wider soundstage, probably thanks to the larger presence in the upper area, and more accurate imaging compared to the CP100. They still deliver a generally neutral signature.
Where foam tips are concerned, however, the True Fidelity tips provided with 64 Audio models as well as the Marshmallow tips by Campfire Audio were found to be most comfortable. Interestingly, the SpinFit single-flange tip was more comfortable than MandarinE’s Symbio W hybrid tip (an ear tip with a thin layer of silicone coating an inner thermoplastic memory-foam core).Eartips are a very personal thing. There is no good or bad in most cases, there is good fit and lesser fit, which depends on both the devices they are mounted on and the listeners’ ear canals. These variables create a large number of possibilities and uncertainties so that no eartip is fitting universally. These variables are: It is impressive the quality of refinement the SpinFit tips are able to extract from the top-end. This is likely owing to its ability to create an effective seal and direct frequencies straight towards the eardrum. Synergy & Pairing It’s the groove in the inner bore that makes the difference: it grips the lip of the nozzle much better than the usual smooth eartips and this provides better comfort, as the tip is more stable, while also providing a more uniform sound quality across earphones: the distance between the sound port and the end of the eartips is constant, so you get the optimal distance that SpinFit found. Speaking of sound, I find the CP500 to be neutral as they don’t modify the sound significantly – for better or for worse. From the naked eye, they appear identical to the CP100 except the colour. They also feel similar in my ears. The audio quality is also exhibits similar characteristics, although I had an impression that the CP100+ produces slightly clearer upper frequencies like cymbals. Given the CP100 has been on sale for so many years, it’s good to get an upgrade with better silicone materials. Everything else is the same as on “normal” silicone eartips, which is also why the SpinFit tips are so great: you get all the pros (good isolation, washability and basically eternal durability, wide compatibility) with none of the cons. Some may find that tips are a shade crisp for their tastes and hence foam tips may be more their flavor. However, trialling and experimenting with different combinations will aid the quest to find the perfect sound. Here are the TWS earbuds I have in my collection and tried them with the CP360. A small note: I am going to compare the various eartips using the “L” size as reference, so you will need adjust that to the size you are interested in as the purpose is to give you a frame for comparison, not to describe every possible size and combination. SpinFit CP100+
SpinFit eartips have been one of our favorites here since first trying out a pair that was bundled with the DUNU Luna. The main appeal is that they have the comfortability of silicone tips, but provide a better seal than the average silicone tip due to their namesake patented swivel technology. Basically, there is a joint near the top of the eartip (the part inserted into your ear) which enables it to bend and conform more completely to the shape of your inner ear. As I mentioned earlier, the CP100 and CP100+ are vastly similar in sonic properties and are almost indistinguishable. I have included a frequency response measurement comparing the CP100, CP100+ and a random pair of foam tips as a control for some comparison. Foam tips such as True Fidelity & Campfire Audio’s Marshmallow provide a more fatigue-free listen in general but at the expense of utmost clarity and transparency. Conclusion mm longer than CP-100 and CP-145, the additional length and bullet-shaped caps of the CP-155 allow deeper insertion to bring more bass and fuller vocal. The wearing experience is very similar to the CP145, but due to the additional stiffness they can feel a bit more fatiguing during long runs. While the dome is made of the same silicone, the different inner bore has a small impact on comfort.
