About this deal

Built upon two decades of award-winning graphics cards, the time to evolve beyond Gaming has come. A new design philosophy takes shape to pave the way for a new prestigious series. The GeForce RTX 3090 is the only graphics card in the Ampere family that features an NVLink interface for SLI. Implicit multi-GPU (the classic SLI you know) is not available—only explicit multi-GPU is supported. Explicit multi-GPU requires that game developers invest their own time and money to add support for the technology, which simply isn't going to happen because of the tiny market size for the feature. Only a handful of games and benchmarks support explicit multi-GPU. To use even this mode, you'll need to buy a new-generation NVLink bridge separately. The NVLink cable from your RTX 20-series cards won't physically fit, and with NVIDIA reportedly stopping the development of SLI profiles for newer games from 2021 for GPUs that support implicit multi-GPU, we can safely conclude that the age of multi-GPU gaming is over. Buying a pair of RTX 3090 cards for multi-GPU would cater to a very tiny niche, mostly professionals. (Cards that came before the RTX 3090 can run games and applications at 8K...it's just a matter of how well.)

While we didn't run any games at 8K for this set of benchmarks, the results show that just getting to 60fps in 4K isn't always possible for the RTX 3090, let alone 8K. That said, what we did see out of the RTX 3090 Suprim impressed us nonetheless. GTX 1080 Ti | GP102-350 | 16nm | 471mm² | 12.0 BT |⠀ 3584 CCs | 224 TMUs | 88 ROPs | ⠀28 SMs | 1582 MHz | 11GB | 1024MB x 11 | GDDR5X | 352-bit | ⠀484 GB/s | 250W MSI's exclusive Dragon Center software lets you monitor, tweak and optimize MSI products in real-time. Close Quarters Heatpipe & Heatsink: Memory modules have their own close quarters heatpipe and heatsink for dedicated cooling. On the top of the card, I found an NVLink connector, a rare find in the RTX 30 Series these days. Nvidia hasn't completely scrapped the idea of dual-card solutions just yet, and sensibly the company has left the technology as an option only in the RTX 3090 class of cards. Though there are a few games out there that know how to take advantage of two graphics cards linked up through either NVLink or the aging SLI standard, the best usage case for NVLink these days is in productivity and content-creation tasks, which is exactly what the RTX 3090 was designed for. We didn't have another identical RTX 3090 on hand to test the feature, though. RTX 3090s, like every other high-end graphics card in the world right now, aren't easy to come by. GTX 1080 | GP104-400 | 16nm | 314mm² | 7.2 BT | ⠀2560 CCs | 160 TMUs | 64 ROPs | ⠀20 SMs | 1733 MHz | 8GB | 1024MB x 8 | GDDR5X | 256-bit | ⠀320 GB/s | 180W

Also remember that almost every test we run (aside from the esports titles) is done at the highest possible quality preset or settings. If you have a higher-hertz gaming monitor and you're worried your card might not make the frame-rate grade, it could still be possible with the right card and a combination of lower settings. Not only that, but many of these titles (including Death Stranding, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and F1 2020) have both DLSS and FidelityFX CAS with Upscaling integrated directly into the game. This can mean boosts of up to 40 percent more performance on top, depending on the setting and the card you're playing with. As we mentioned earlier, the RTX 3090 is based on the 8 nm "GA102" silicon, nearly maxing it out. All but one of the 42 TPCs (84 streaming multiprocessors) are enabled, resulting in a CUDA core count of 10,496, along with 328 Tensor cores, 82 RT cores, 328 TMUs, and 112 ROPs. To achieve 24 GB, the RTX 3090 maxes out the 384-bit wide memory bus on the "GA102" and uses the fastest 19.5 Gbps GDDR6X memory, which gives the card an astounding 940 GB/s of memory bandwidth. Admittedly, our testing regimen is more geared toward synthetic gaming tests. However, both the LuxMark and V-Ray results paint a picture of a card with a whole lot of power to handle tasks like pathing out light rays and or rendering in complete 3D scenes with reflective surfaces. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti enables all 84 SM present on the GA102 silicon, which works out to 10,752 CUDA cores, 336 Tensor cores, 84 RT cores, 336 TMUs, and 112 ROPs. The RTX 3090, in comparison, has 82 SM, and the RTX 3080 Ti has 80. NVIDIA also bolstered the memory sub-system. It now uses 21 Gbps-rated GDDR6X memory instead of the 19.5 Gbps memory on the RTX 3090 and 19 Gbps memory on the RTX 3080 Ti. You get 24 GB of memory, much like the RTX 3090, which should help with creative applications that deal with large data sets. If you recall, although the RTX 3090 launched alongside the RTX 3080, it wasn't regarded NVIDIA's "flagship" product, as that was the RTX 3080. Instead, the 3090 enjoyed a "halo product" status because of its 24 GB of memory for creativity applications. Graphics Card

The Founders Edition of the 3090 Ti uses a 1x16-pin power connector, a larger version of the 12-pin connector that debuted with the RTX 3080 FE. Like before, this new port links to your PSU via a 3x8-pin dongle that’s included in the box. Unlike with the 3090, OEMs have also opted to use this new connector, as can be seen on the Suprim X here. You’ll need a beefy power supply (Nvidia recommends 850w minimum) as the card has a TDP of 480 watts, up from 450w on the Founders Edition. Fin array is populated by 30 microfins with 0.6mm wide microchannels that provide optimal cooling performance, without unnecessary flow restrictions or clogging hazards. The new PCI Express 5.0 12(+4)-pin 12VHPWR connector, can offer up to 600 watts. The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, on the other hand, will always come with an adaptor for three 6+2 pins connectors to that new 12VHPWR connector. MSI GeForce RTX 3090 SUPRIM X 24G
